If you’re good at something, never do it for free?

Talk about complex sources of wisdom. If the reader will excuse a bit of adolescent humor, I recently learned about Ikigai, and one of the venn circles of overlap is “what you can be paid for.” A challenge for many of us is to find something to spend our time on that allows more than just getting paid. Maybe others can resonate with that feeling of learning a new word for a long-felt emotion; and Ikigai was such a satisfying label to drop into what this project has the potential to be.

That being said, this writer plans on getting this off the ground pro-bono, but the goal would be to sustainably remunerate those actually making this run.

The 10 Rules of Ikigai

  • Stay active and don’t retire. …
  • Take it slow. …
  • Don’t fill your stomach. …
  • Surround yourself with good friends. …
  • Get in shape for your next birthday. …
  • Smile. …
  • Reconnect with nature. …
  • Give thanks.
